Achievement
Posan High School is a small school with nine classes located on the outskirts of Daegu.
Its study body is declining due to rural exodus and a poor educational environment and it has been
hit by the school closure crisis. After its designation as a public autonomous boarding school in 2008,
it introduced unique educational programs to move from the bottom of the rankings to the top 1%,
a successful model of public education.

In particular, its varied unique programs taking advantage of its school type and selective after-school programs with consideration for students’ interests and aptitudes have developed its students’ potential to maximize educational effectiveness. Representative programs include its Posan Talent Fostering Course with participation from university professors, its customized ACE program, its business spirit education for leadership lectures, its research and education course in connection with DGIST, its combined reading certificate, writing dissertations, and volunteer activities.

Above all, Posan High School has increased its students’ academic achievements through student-led/focused exploratory activities and joint study and has reduced fees with its efficient dormitory accommodation, normalizing public education to restore the trust of parents and the community.

These efforts resulted in its selection as one of the top 100 curricula in the country in 2016 and top 100 after-school programs in 2017, and the number of Daegu region students going to university went from the lowest ranking in 2007 to 4th in 2012 and 1st in 2015. In 2017 it matched the Seoul capital region's leading rate of 70%. This school's creative classroom innovation model has breathed new life into public high school education.
