POSCO TJ Park Foundation (chairman Kim Sun-Wook) awarded the scholarship certificate and encouraged 25 students from Asian region selected as 2018 POSCO Asia Fellowship.

 

In the award ceremony, 80 people such as directors of Foundation, university officers, Asian scholarship students, etc. including Kim Sun-Wook, the new chairman of POSCO TJ Park Foundation attended.

POSCO TJ Park Foundation's 'Scholarship for Asian Students Studying in Korea' is the in-bound scholarship that helps the young prosperous talents to complete the master and doctor course and fulfill the pivotal role in every field of society after returning to their own countries and this year, 25 winners were selected.

 

The winners will study in Graduate School of International Studies, School of Law, Graduate School of Public Administration at Seoul National University, Graduate School of International Studies at Yonsei University, Graduate School of International Studies at Korea University, Graduate School of International Studies at Sogang University, Graduate School of International Studies at Ehwa Women's University, Graduate School of International and Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, KDI School of Public Policy and Management, POSTECH Graduate School and The Academy of Korean Studies and POSCO TJ Park Foundation support them with 100% of tuition fee for 2 years including monthly 1 million won of cost of living.

In the award ceremony, chairman Kim Sun-Wook asked "There are lots of restrictions in the growth of Asian countries due to historical conflict, language barrier, cultural differences among them and I hope that POSCO Asia Fellowship would become a driving force to lead the co-prosperity of Asia."

 

And in his congratulatory message, the president of POSTECH showed this expectation saying "POSCO Asia Fellowship is the fruitful project of leading the future of Asian students who are our companions and neighbors, and fostering the talents".

 

The award ceremony was managed by Shaden (Jordan) who is studying at The Academy of Korean Studies. After the award ceremony, the winners from India, Vietnam and Indonesia made a speech about the relationship between their country and Korea, their aspiration and resolution gaining good response from the attendants.

 

In the meantime, POSCO TJ Park Foundation supports the scholarship students so that they do not have any difficulties in living during the stay in Korea. The foundation is managing the orientation and steel mill tour program for the new fellows and supports the network by providing the workshop and Korean culture experiencing program for entire fellows

 

In addition, the Foundation encourages the fellows to use basic Korean freely during their stay and makes them share the academic achievement by holding the conference before returning their country after completing the course.

 

POSCO TJ Park Foundation has supported the scholarship equivalent to 15.2 billion won to 379 students through Asia Fellowship project, for which this year is 14th anniversary started for the first time in 2005. Most of graduates who received the support of Foundation are growing up as the key leader of their country and organized the POSCO alumni meeting in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, etc..
