2019 POSCO TJ Park prize winners visited POSCO Pohang Steel Mill

On Apr 4, the day after the 13th award ceremony, the winners of 2019 POSCO TJ Park Prize of POSCO TJ Park Foundation(Chairman Kim, Suk-uk) visited Pohang Steel Mill and had a meaningful time to ruminate on the history of POSCO's foundation.

 

Prof. Cheon Jeong-hee, the winner of Science Prize and his wife; Lee, Heung-woon, the principal of Yeomyeong School, who won Education Prize; Lee, Bong-hyeon, the director of the administration office, and Kim, Se-soon, the assistant administrator; Dr. Cluadia Turner, the CEO of AHC, who won Education Prize and her husband; and Dr. Chanpheaktra, the director of the hospital and his family participated in the visit.

The winners had a look around Pohang Canal, which is included in 100 best tourist attractions in Korea, History Hall, Public Relations Center, and POSCO Steel Mill during the tour program intended to increase the winners’ understanding of POSCO founder’s initiatives and to promote their pride as winners.

Kim, Se-soon, the assistant administrator of Yeomyeong School, who worn Education Prize, said: “It was a time for us to understand POSCO quickly and deeply in a short time. Other teachers should have shared this experience.”

 

Dr. Chanpheaktra, the director of AHC hospital, who won Community Development and Philanthropy Prize said: “It seems that Korea’s development in such a short time is attributable to POSCO. I hope that Cambodia will have a plant that makes steel products like POSCO and robust hospitals can build with steel.”

 

On Apr 3, the POSCO TJ Park Prize, celebrating its 13the anniversary, has selected △ Prof. Cheon Jeong-hee from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, the Seoul National University, as the winner of Science Prize; Yeomyeong School as the winner of Community Development and Philanthropy Prize; and Lim, Tae-won, the director of Hyundai Motor Company Future technology Innovation Center as the winner of Technology Prize, and awarded winners plaques and prize money of KRW200 million each.

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation holds lecture meeting events to commemorate prize winning that matches the field where the winners are working under the topic related to the prize with the aim of making the activities and achievements of the winners be known widely and to spread the meaning of the POSCO TJ Park Prize around the award ceremony every year in addiction to winner’s visit to POSCO Steel Mill.
