The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Sunuk, Kim) selected Mr. Lee Soo-hyung who led in saving lives by jumping into a building to evacuate residents quickly when a fire broke out in a residential building near Arangjoeul Street, Seogwi-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do on Jul 12th, as “POSCO Heroes Fellow”, and visited Seogwipo Fire Station to deliver the POSCO Heroes Fellow” certificate and scholarship certificate for his children to him.

According to Seogwipo Fire Station, when his son informed him that smoke was coming from a nearby mall. As soon as he confirmed the fire, reported it to 119.

Lee Soo-hyung jumped into the building filled with smoke before the fire squad arrived and awakened four family members who slept to evacuate them from the building. And he carried resident with restrict mobility on his back and escaped the building. He took the lead in saving precious lives in the fire scene by risking his own life.

POSCO Heroes Fellowship, a scholarship program established this year, is aimed to support the righteous men and women who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of national and social justice or their children for continuing to study in a stable manner.
