The POSCO TJ Park Foundation selected Captain Kim Seong-woo as “POSCO Heroes Fellow”

-On Oct 29th, Captain Kim Seong-woo rescued a drowning man at Gyo-dong fish market, Yeosu

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Sunuk, Kim) selected Captain Kim Seong-woo who rescued a drowning man in the sea in front of a fish market in Yeosu city on the 29th as the fourth fellow of “POSCO Heroes Fellow”, and visited Yeosu Maritime Police Station to deliver a fellowship certificate and a scholarship for his children on Nov 15th.

Captain Kim Seong-woo found a man (50s, physically handicapped, disability grade 4), who slid down the water farm ramp in front of Gyo-dong fish market in Yeosu and fell into the sea , He tried to rescue him by using a rope near him. But the drowning man could not catch and was swept away in the tide. Kim Seong-woo took off his clothes and jumped into the sea to rescue the drowning man.

 

Kim Seong-woo said, “I thought it was dangerous, but I thought there was nothing more important than human life. I just did what I had to do.”

The POSCO Heroes Fellowship is aimed to support the righteous men and women who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of national and social justice or their children for continuing to study in a stable manner.
