- Selects 40 university students from Pohang and Gwangyang with strong character and academic potential

- Provides living scholarships of KRW 2.5 million per semester for up to seven semesters through graduation

- Since the first selection in 2006, has provided KRW 8.4 billion in scholarships to a cumulative total of 682 students over 21 years

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman: Chang In-hwa) selected 40 new POSCO Vision Scholars in 2026 to nurture talented young people from local communities. The Foundation held a scholarship certificate presentation ceremony on August 26 at POSCO Pyeongchang Stay 1538 in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.

 

Since introducing the POSCO Vision Scholarship program in 2006, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation has provided KRW 8.4 billion in scholarships to a cumulative total of 682 university students over the past 21 years. Each scholar receives a living scholarship of KRW 2.5 million per semester for up to seven semesters until graduation.

 

To identify and select outstanding scholars, the Foundation promotes the program each year in cooperation with major universities across Korea, local governments and high schools in Pohang and Gwangyang, and scholarship support platforms. In particular, this year, the eligibility criteria were expanded to include freshmen at universities located in Pohang and Gwangyang, in addition to students originally from the two cities. As a result, 40 students from 29 universities nationwide, including Seoul National University, POSTECH, KAIST, and Korea University, were selected as POSCO Vision Scholars.

 

At the scholarship certificate presentation ceremony, a representative of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation said, “The Foundation will actively support our scholars not only in pursuing their academic goals, but also in developing their capabilities through diverse experiences and meaningful exchanges. We hope that our scholars will broaden their horizons and grow into future leaders who can shape the world.”

 

In addition to financial support, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation operates various capacity-building programs, including overseas volunteer activities and mentoring programs. These initiatives provide scholars with opportunities to connect with one another, build networks, and develop concrete plans for their future careers and aspirations.

 

This year’s scholarship certificate presentation ceremony was held as a two-day, one-night program, with international scholars pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees at Korean universities through the Foundation’s POSCO Korean Scholarship program also joining the event. POSCO Vision Scholars and international scholars had the opportunity to broaden their global perspectives by sharing their cultures and experiences and engaging in meaningful exchanges.

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation will continue to work closely with local communities to discover and nurture talented young people. It will also expand tailored programs that enable scholars to connect with diverse talents in Korea and around the world and grow into future leaders who will shape the society of tomorrow.
