- 140 middle school students 50 university student mentors in Pohang and Gwangyang areas participating
POSCO TJ Park Foundation (President Sunuk Kim) has been operating POSCO Dream Camp since 2019 for middle school students in Pohang and Gwangyang areas, who have the will and passion to learn but lack the opportunity to improve learning ability and career exploration due to regional limitation and financial difficulty, as a part of ‘'Corporate Citizenship: Building a Better Future Together'.
Unlike one-time camps during breaks, participants of POSCO Dream Camp participate in digital learning mentoring during the semester and winter camp to form self-direct learning habit and offer various opportunities to explore career, and has been highly praised by students and parents of the 1st term in 2019.

However, due to the COVID19 pandemic, the summer camp is cancelled this year, and ‘Digital Learning Mentoring’ focusing on 1:1 online video mentoring and special lectures on self-directed learning will be operating from August.
As opposed to the existing one-way internet video lecture and online video class, ‘Digital Learning Mentoring’ offers 1:1 video learning guidance and career counseling through an application, providing highly concentrated mentoring. Also, it offers special lectures for mentees on learning motivation, learning technique acquisition, and goal setting, and outstanding participants are given the opportunity to participate in Winter Camp in next January.
Meanwhile, university students acting as mentors are provided with scholarships to provide educational opportunities and jobs at once to resolve social polarization.
POSCO TJ Park Foundation staff stated that “POSCO Dream Camp started to give hope and dream to middle school students at a crucial point of their lives, and give opportunity to realize their dream,” and “we hope that students form self-directed learning habit through POSCO Dream Camp and maximize their potential through the emotional bonding with mentors to widen their choices in career selection.”
The 2nd POSCO Dream Camp will be recruiting participants from middle schools in Pohang and Gwangyang in June and hold ‘Digital Learning Mentoring’ from August to November, and host Winter Camp in January 2021 for outstanding participants of ‘Digital Learning Mentoring’.
