- In response to the spread of Corona 19, 'Online Digital Learning Mentoring' will be operated until Nov, instead of the summer camp
-118 middle school students and 40 college student mentors from Pohang and Gwangyang participated
POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Sunuk Kim) announced that it will launch an untact online digital learning mentoring program as part of the '2020 POSCO Dream Camp' for 4 months from Aug 1 to Nov 30.
POSCO Dream Camp has been operated as a 5-month program consisting of 2-week summer camp; 4-month online learning mentoring, and 2-week winter camp thereafter. Having canceled the summer camp because of the influence of Corona 19, POSCO TJ Park Foundation has launched an untact online “Digital Learning Mentoring" program by extending the former program.
In this “Digital Learning Mentoring", program, 118 mentees recommended by 26 middle schools in Pohang and Gwangyang and 40 college student mentors who will guide the above junior mentees online will participate.

Unlike the existing one-way internet video lecture and one-to-many online video lectures, in POSCO Dream Camp “Digital Learning Mentoring” program, mentors provide one-to-one video learning guidance and career counseling for mentees through its proprietary application, so mentoring with high concentration will become possible. In addition, special lectures are prepared on various topics such as granting motivation for learning, learning effective learning methods, and setting life goals for mentees. Participants in this “Digital Learning Mentoring” program will be eligible for the winter camp scheduled in Jan next year.
“We couldn't discontinue POSCO Dram Camp because of Corona 19, as it has been launched to give dreams and hopes to middle school students who are in a very critical period in their lives and to provide them with the opportunities to realize their dreams,” an official from POSCO TJ Park Foundation said. "With the launch of this untact online "Digital Learning Mentoring" program, we will continue to look for ways to operate new scholarship programs in response to the post-corona era."
POSCO Dream Camp, launched in 2019 as part of the practice of POSCO's corporate philosophy “Corporate Citizens Growing Together” aims at providing the middle school students in Pohang and Gwangyang, who have will and passion for learning but lack opportunities to improve learning capabilities and explore careers because of regional limitations and economic difficulties, with the opportunities for better education; and providing the college students participating in this program as mentors with opportunities to develop their service spirit and leadership quality and receive scholarship, thus contributing to solving the problem of polarization of education.
Unlike other camps that are being operated as one-off programs during the vacation, POSCO Dream Camp has the advantage of providing participants with the opportunities to form self-directed learning habits and explore various careers by continuously participating in the digital learning mentoring during the semester and winter camp, attracting high response from teenagers who completed the 1st POSCO Dream Camp in 2019 and their parents.
